"Damping Off" is a fungus that occurs at soil line to young seedlings. It
happens because of moist conditions seeds are germinated in. If you've never
experienced it, your lucky. Basically it attacks seedling at soil line
causing seedling to keel over & die. Chamomile Tea has a chemical (someone
with knowledge of what that is, jump in now, I think it's some kind of
sulfur) that kills it & I only know that two seasons ago I had a tray of
seedlings with it & remembered someone on this list posting the recipe:
Make a cup of Chamomile Tea.
Mix tea in a gallon container with distilled water.
Spray diluted tea on soil/seedling stem area.
Pray at the altar of El Grande for deliverance from fungus.

My seedlings recovered, although I've been told by more learned growers that
the black ring on stem that was left was detrimental to plants growth. As I
remember, plants did well that year. Since that problem, I have always
watered with it & have never experienced it again.

Hope this helps,
Paul
