In this case, since the address had been harvested from an active mail list 
I thought that 'validation' of the address was not such a big issue as it 
is in other spam.

Sometimes, like this one, I will to see if they have a working abuse@ 
address.  Spammers often don't and the message bounces.  If it does bounce 
I will submit it to an internet block list at www.rfc-ignorant that will 
put them on a lot of serious block lists.
