Or mince the meat instead of cutting cubes. But I'm not advocating inviting your cats to be guests of honour at a chilli cook-off ..... I just said to read them the recipe. If you're going to actually make it - I'd suggest alley cat. Or substitute domestic rabbit - other than the shoulder blades there isn't a lot of difference in them once dressed for the pot. We had a scandal back in the 1950s here when a ring of neighborhood groceries were busted for selling "long tailed rabbit". As a result, all domestic rabbit sold in Illinois grocery stores/butcher shops has to be sold with the hind feet intact so the customer is sure he's getting rabbit. I'm pretty sure I've had cat for supper, though. My dad often brought home rabbit for my mom to cook for supper. He bought it from the grocer named in the indictments as the ringleader in the deception. That being said - I have a tortise shell rodent control officer which I would be loath to put in the chilli pot. And I would not dream of depriving anyone of a loved pet. But, I reserve my right to keep my skewed outlook on the world, life and the ultimate absurdity of political correctness. <GGG> Besides, in a hundred years none of this will matter to any of us anyway.
