Hey ho ya bunch o' hot nuts! Well, myself and the Beautiful Kath decided we would plant some chiles this year (she always liked it hot, now she's met me, she's becoming a fellow addict..). Bought some seeds from a place that sold seeds (strangely enough). Got the usual Cayennes, some 'mixed' ones (looks to be some bonnets in there, some Cayennes, rest I dunno), some small, sweet, round or'nary(ish) red peps, and I took a red bonnet out the freezer and dug the seeds outa that too. Planted some of the peppers in her pops glasshouse, in the single little heated seedtray - 72 shoots at last count ',;~} , already several inches high (waiting to get a heater, so we can prick them out into pots). I went back home, and planted up the bonnet seeds, the 'mix' and the sweets into or'nary trays, put them inside big clear plastic bags (like little, cute baby greenhouses they are!), and windowsilled 'em. Now, these have sprouted (some quick, some slow, some not yet), but not as big as the ones at dear Kath's dear Papa's dear allotment, cos they ain't being warmed the same. With the bonnets seeds, I had(have) a slight problem with the shoots shedding the seed carcass, and some have perished because of it. Some, I was able to carefully remove the shells off, to allow them to photosynthesise, and they have stopped hanging their heads ashamedly now. Nevertheless, many have grown and look healthy. Anyhoo, looks like when we get a heater in the 'clear-shed' (I just made that name up I did - dead proud I am!), we'll have pots and pots and pots (etsuckingfetera) of peppers to keep us fed and entertained for a (wee) while! Just one question re: the ones that are wearing the little hard-hats (ahh, they look sooo cute! Pity it's stranglin' and suffocatin' and starvin' 'em of Ra's blessed golden rays..), how the _copulation_ do I stop that happening again, and, why did it not happen with _any_ of the bought ones? Anything to do with the chitting process(es) the bought ones might have gone through? Are red scotch bonnets just playful, mischievous little buggers or what? TIA, you lovely, huggable, sweet, kind, generous, smart, creative, loving, witty, artistic and god-like-physiqued folk!!!!! ',;~} You can't get cooler 'n hot! Shaun aRe - Feels good to be a dad! P.p.s. - Surprised to find the last digest (I got) didn't have much mega hotter than usual content !?!?!?!?!? : "CH] Chile-Heads Digest V8 #666" >',;~}
