For the record, the USDA banned the importation of Szechwan peppercorns, Zanthoxylum piperitum, Z. simulans (also known as Sichuan) into the U.S. over a year ago. It does not apply to products made with them, just the peppercorns themselves. Apparently, if you grow them they can cause a canker disease on citrus plants (lemons, grapefruit, etc.) They're not really peppercorns, as the come from what we call the prickly ash tree.
