Riley said <Question--what's a good brand of Beef Base? Never used it, and the one person that really knew what it was said there was good and bad and couldn't remember the good. That's why I gave up and just reduced some stock I had.> I use Better than Bouillon brand which I can buy at the supermarket. I think QVC also sells it with a cookbook and a few other flavors. I think all their products are wonderful. I use almost all the flavors - chicken, ham, mushroom, beef, lobster, clam, vegetable and chili base. They last about 3 months unrefrigerated and almost forever once you do refrigerate. They do dry up a bit though. I moisten the dried up stuff with a bit of warm water sometimes. Anyway, this is what I use. Penzey's also sells their own brand of bases. Since I've never used them personally, I can't say how they are. Hope this helps, RisaG __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Platinum - Watch CBS' NCAA March Madness, live on your desktop! http://platinum.yahoo.com
