Scott , i've recently been lamenting the dearth (that's dearth Not death) of the once ubiquitous "Banana Slug" here in Vancouver. wa-a-ay back in the 60's & 70's , one would invariably find these guys slugging their way along the street sidewalks in the early AM virtually every day. they were a damned annoyance. enormous, ugly, messy if you stepped on one, Dangerous too! slipping on one of these guys, during an ordinary walk, could cause a nasty fall ! as in Banana peel. Now however, i confess ... i simply cannot recall the last time i encountered one of these gargantuan beasts here in the quiet residential areas of there city, where they were once Very numerous. was it pollution? pesticides? politics? or cheesy rap music? idano. whatever, they're not here anymore ... and that worries me. here's the URL from my post to CH almost a year ago ... http://www.nature.com/nsu/020624/020624-8.html Coffee Breaks Slugs or try a ring of plain old beach sand, an inch or so wide, around your plants. uh ... topically speaking .... your CHile plants ! slugs don't like sand. later peter g ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Parkhurst, Scott Contractor" wrote: > Scott... no holds barred against slugs...
