Gotta disagree to a certain extent, at least with the sweeping
statements.

Sodium chloride qualifies as "any other" chemical.
Surely you aren't saying we can't add salt to our hot sauces to 
balance and enhance the flavors?  If you're using table salt you
can't even consider that natural, as it likely contains iodine
and any number of anti-caking agents.
