Well, I finally had a chance to plant some of the chiles in the raised bed today. I know it is very late but there were a lot of reasons why I had to wait, one being our trip to FL. The other being our horrible rainy weather for way too long and the last reason was a varmint that ate most of my tomatoes early in the season. It seems the varmints are gone (as far as I can tell) and I couldn't wait any longer. I planted: 2 Fish Pepper 1 Stripe 2 Orange Thai 1 Orange Serrano 2 Piquillo Tomatoes: 1 Lillians Yellow 1 Thessaloniki Oxheart 1 Rose de Berne Herbs: 2 Lemon Basil 1 Lime Basil 1 Greek Oregano 1 Red Nasturtium I also have a mystery tomato growing in the bed, one outside of the bed and a mystery chile (I had it marked on a marker in the pot but the rain washed away the name). Hopefully I'll see some harvest in Sept or Oct and pray for a late frost. I'm just happy they are in the ground. I still have quite a few chiles in large pots - Orange Serrano, Orange Devil Hab (with buds), Lemon Drop, Guam Boonie. I still have quite a few heirloom tomatoes in pots too - Paul Robeson, White Wonder, Principe Borghese, Riesentraube, Stupice. Also some herbs in pots - I transplanted the lemongrass into a larger pot. I hope it does well. Anyway, glad I got the planting done. It was tough work but we got it done (my son & I). Now let's pray that we get more sun than rain. I'm sooo sick of rain. I want to harvest ripe chiles, and soon. I am so sick of the jalapenos at the supermarket. I was hoping to find thai chiles at the chinese market yesterday. They had one bag of them but they looked like they were rotting. I didn't take them.
