Scotch Bonnets & Habs are both C. chinense and are closely related. They are NOT the same thing though. While many habs can look like Scotch Bonnets, not many Scotch Bonnets look like habs. The people of the islands claim that the SB has a much fruitier flavor & I found them to be less hot than my habs. If one has great patience with slow loading pages, you can see a picture of a 'true' scotch bonnet at my site under 'pepper pics'. It is towards the bottom of the pics. The 'ideal' SB has distinct lobes and a pronounced shoulder that circles the entire fruit. Habs are generally not lobed and lack the pronounced shoulder, although many habs look close on occasion. -Jim C MWPH http://www.wildpepper.com
