Greetings Fellow ChDs, Conditions here (Westfield, Ma) warranted setting pepper plants in the raised beds two weeks ago. The bloom boosting version of MiracleGro (10-52-10) went into each planting hole along with a side dressing of bulb booster (6-12-12). Nice peppers showing on the giant Jalapenos, but Guajillos are the farthest ahead. The ChileWoman's shipment arrived with beautifully packed, husky plants inside. Thanks to my friends here (oh, you've got to plant Habs, and Serranos, and ...), I have little room for my tomatoes, zucchini, basil, lettuce, and radiccio, the chile peppers are taking up almost all the space. Time to construct another raised bed. I was a little taken aback by the germination of chile plants from scraps and seeds left over from making powder from dried chiles. I thought the seeds would be too "cooked" to germinate. I thought wrong. There are several patches of seedling peppers as thick as grass. In this weak sun winter climate, what's the best chile for wintering over? And, should I go to pot(ting) now or dig up the healthy (to be named) plants and pot them in the fall? TIA, best growing to all, Gareth the ChileKnight (I always wanted "the" for a middle name, like Smokey the Bear, Tony the Tiger ...)
