Hi All! I'm brand new to this list and I just wanted to introduce myself. I broke my leg in February which initially sounds like a trajedy I know, but through that I discovered that eating hot pepper products greatly eased my pain. Since then, I have developed a voracious appetite for anything spicy-hot, and have even begun my first pepper garden. I had hoped to grow the hottest peppers, especially habaneros, from seed. However, I was afraid that if I planted seeds here near Hartford Connecticut, I would have to wait too long to begin harvesting. So, as much as I wanted to give Pepper Joe some business, I'll have to wait until next year for that. So I tried to find some hab plants, but could not. I settled for some Thai and jalapeno plants. I planted them in a sunny location in my sandy soil. My hope is that the plants recognize the similarity between my soil and the sandy soil their ancestors grew in - wish me luck! To satisfy my appetite for heat, I have been searching for recipes using hot pepper and have come up with a few of my own. The question came up for me, "Who do I share these with?" In my search to find an answer, I've found that my cat and hamster no longer trust the food I put before them! Seriously though, my Mom has become another chile head convert. The only other person who can tolerate my new cuisine is an old family friend from Louisiana, who grew up with cajun food. Its so nice to know that there's other folks who share my new found love for heat! I've greatly enjoyed reading all your postings and will look forward to many more. Further, I will keep you posted on my adventures in my new found chile world! Godiva
