Here in Los Angeles, especially in the San Fernando Valley, we have notoriously alkaline soil. When we lived in our condo, every morning, I would pour the grounds into the potted tree outside our door. The gardener could never figure out why "our" tree was so much greener and healthier than all the others:) Of course, it may also have had something to do with the fact that a little nitrogenous material was introduced daily. 'Tany rate, it made a significant difference. Now that we own a single family home, our roses are lapping it up, as well. Whatever works! Ron
