Yellow jackets - pour gasoline (yes gasoline) into the hole in the ground. Don't light. The gas will render the nest uninhabitable. OK, light it after a few minutes but you will blow yourself up. BOOM! You can also plug the nest with something but they will sometimes get out anyway. Wasp's - spray the paper nest with gasoline or diesel fuel. One shot will usually do it. Same principle. Works on hornets too but their nests are usually bigger and nowhere near people. I leave hornets alone as they are pretty beneficial. I worked at a motel one summer and did wasp patrol every day like this. Yea it's dangerous but I need the excitement.
