Esp to Dave. At the moment the NE US is experincing the driest year since 1949 and I must spend my time trying to save my plants. I will promise this either during a monsoon or after harvest. I will attempt to take this further. I want to know the following. What is the US Dept of Ag. requirements for seed borne diseases ? Can States override these reg's ? What diseases can be seed borne ? What is the best treatment(s) for home growers ? Can all of them be treated before planting ? I will use the same guidelines I used for my TMV study. 1. Find at least 2 preferably 3 sites that can substantiate the data 2. If I can not and must rely a letter from someone, to have a URL where that persons status can be verified. Since you spilled over from the Tomato List, I will tell this list the same thing. I am not directing this at you personally but as part of an industry that has the shoddiest warranties of all. "If dissatisfied with this product, return unsealed package for refund" Your industry won't even guarantee to have the product inside the package as printed on the outside. For the newbies on this list, 2 years ago I purchased some seeds from Totally Tomatoes, I had 4 seed borne diseases. My County Agent identified the disease on the plants, I paid the State labs for seed testing and soil testing My cost for a $7 order of seeds, between seed, soil tests, lost wages and soil replacement is about $1,000 Am I BS, you bethca Byron
