Ammonia diluted is actually good for the garden. However I haven't seen a slug this year. Nor have I seen any evience of the slimy little critters, even in my strawberries. I have resident in my garden a TOAD - at least I hope it is a toad. It looks like a toad, but it is the biggest darn toad I have ever seen. It may be the one that has lived in my garden for several years, but if so he had a heck of a growth spurt since last year. I have disc-shaped grass shields around the bases of my pop-up sprinklers that are slightly bigger than a saucer, Saturday morning when I was out early he was laying on top of one and I could not see any part of the disc. That means this critter is at least 6 inces across! My dogs are not afraid of much, but they sure give this guy a wide berth. I also think he ate a Mojave Green rattle snake because I found part of one back near my compost complex. I suppose it's possible a raven dropped it in my yard, but I am not so sure. I have lots of little habs, quite a few cascabels and a few Yastafusa setting fruit. The rest are lagging behind because of our cold spring. Finally a pequin has hatched (sprouted) I have hopes for this little guy, they are supposed to be cold hardy as they grow while in an area much like this. -- Andie Paysinger & the PENDRAGON Basenjis,Teafer,Cheesy,Singer & Player asenji@earthlink.net So.
