I had family & friends over for Independence Day, and
didn't get around to making any salsa from scratch, so
I improvised with ingredients at hand.
I made a mild sauce using 1.5 cups Pace mild picante
sauce and 4 roasted/peeled/seeded Anaheim chiles,
mixed in a blender...this turned out quite well.
I then made a hotter version, using 1 cup of the Pace,
but added 3 or 5 frozen habaneros, (I had sliced them into
sections before freezing, so I don't know the exact amount).
I blended the habs first and got a HUGE vapor rush when
I opened the lid to add the Pace, so I knew it would be
plenty warm for the crowd. I got reactions ranging from
"You can really taste the habaneros." to "There's no
Earthly reason to make a sauce that hot!". All guests were
suitably warned, but many didn't believe... until it was too
late. They won't underestimate my sauce next time!
Had a great time blowing up lots of fireworks afterwards.

Scott... In Wyandotte County, blowing things up is not only
legal, it's encouraged... KCK
