[CH] Bacterial Wilt? and Yellow Bumpy

Hello, everybody. I am new to the list and started growing about 800 chili
pepper plants (43 varieties) to see how they do in this area. I am down about
three dozen from that number due to a possible disease.
I live in Winchester, Kentucky, just east of Lexington. I planted the plants
on May 10 and have had to water because of a moderate drought. The plants are
growing great. But now I am losing a few plants a day to what could be
bacterial wilt. The plants are growing fast and producing fruit. Then,
certain plants suddenly wilt
while maintaining their green color -- no yellowing at all. Nearby plants
are not affected. When I pull the plants, the root mass is only about 3 to 4
inches in diameter. I have been burning the wilted plants, just in case.
I hilled soil up around all the plants to prevent blowdown as we have strong
winds here at times. Can this have an effect?
Anybody out there growing Yellow Bumpy. I couldn't resist a plant with that
name. How hot is it? Is it a great plant? Can you make yellow chili powder
from it or does it lose its color? It has started to flower and I may throw a
summer weight cover over it to get some seed that hasn't been cross
pollinated, if it is worth it.
Thanks for any help.

And the biggest question is...should I sell some or keep them ALL for myself?
