Thought I'd better post directions to the event. There has been a minor
change in plans. Our remodeling is way behind schedule, so I have reserved
a shelterhouse in a park instead. (Our house looks kind of like a bomb was
dropped in the middle right about now...grrrrr....)
So, the new location is the Shagbark Shelter in Inis Grove Park. Inis Grove
is at the corner of 24th & Duff Avenue in Ames. I'm putting a link to a map
of the intersection at the bottom of this email. It's pretty easy to get
to.
These directions assume you are arriving in Ames via I-35. Take exit 113
from I-35 (this is the 13th St. exit) and head west on 13th to Duff Ave.
Duff is a 4-lane street, and the intersection has a stoplight. Turn right
here and go until you get to 24th St. Turn right at 24th and go to the end
of the street. The park is on your left once you get on 24th, and there are
houses on the right. Go to the end of the street and turn left into the
parking lot (the street dead-ends in the parking lot). There are tennis
courts on the west side of the parking lot. It would be best to park all
the way at the north end of the parking lot as the shelterhouse is on a path
on the north end of the lot.
There is electricity available, grills (the kind with the huge grates), and
a playground area for kids.
I'll put signs and balloons up so you can find the place. If anyone wants
further directions (because those probably made no sense to anybody but me)
send me an email. Oh, and people from Missouri and Kansas (and anywhere
else) are welcome to come. The more the merrier!!
