We are back!! Winnipeg was great, the weather was great. the wedding of our eldest grandson was great, and now we have a really beautiful, new grandaughter, who just married our grandson! Anyway, the flight home was not, too bumpy, sheesh, I wish they would fix those potholes up there, could not even read Lovejoy! So, when we arrived home, late, put on a big pot of Thai rice, had picked up a half barbecued chicken, and that is what we had...I did make a curry sauce for the chicken, could not just leave it alone...and tonight, seeing as I had that left over Thai rice, just hadda do something with it....picked up a 3/4 lb chunk of halibut filet, had a shrimp ring left over from who knows how long, so decided to combine the two...steamed the halibut, with ginger slices, and sesame oil on top, mad a cream sauce, and threw the shrimp in when they had defrosted, then added the fish, twasnt bad, I was informed by Limpey(my better half)(who had busted 4 bones in her left foot prior to leaving for Winnipeg!)And the rice, you ask? Why that went into a memorable fried rice...and I really did get a shock. Yesterday, shopping, picked up 4 Jals, one good sized one almost 6 inches long(yeah, I know)and tonight when I cut it up and took out the seeds, as I always do, I chomped on a piece, and got the surpise of my life....this Jalapeno was as hot as the Habs I usually get, could not believe it, so I took a little piece of the inside rib to my poor, broken footed, unsuspecting better half....well, knowing that I was chopping up a Jal, to put in the fried rice, she accepted a piece...miserable old man waited for the reaction!!!Poor Marie, could not move very fast because of the foot, but she headed for the sugar bowl immediately! I took pity on her and gave her a slice of red bell pepper, which was also going into the fried mess, I mean rice, and that cooled tho tonsils a little, except she aint got any tonsils...so that is what we had tonight...hope we can get some more of those babies, dunno where they came from to the grocery store, but I intend to find out!On another note, my serranos are producing like crazy up on our roof(110 ft up) Meters, Chas? and I have two habs poking through, so I may yet get peppers if our sun keeps shining. I have already posted at least three fried rice recipes, but if anyone wants this one, and the fish thing, get back to me, and I will oblige...I have not forgotten the hot chickpea recipe, so do not despair!
