I have a "NESCO" electric dehydrator that I have used manly for jerky. = How would that work for peppers? I am _way_ new at all of this. Rex Overmyer Howdy Rex, The NESCO, or AMERICAN HARVESTER dehydrators will work just fine. Be = sure to split the thick walled chiles for better air circulation. = Caveat: Get one with the heat/fan element that mounts on the top. With = some chiles, they will "drip" a little. If the element is at the bottom, = the drips can get into the innerds of the element. You can de-seed, and = remove the septa and placenta of the chiles before dehydrating. But I'm = usually too lazy. If you plan to grind the dried chiles into powder (usually done with = an electric coffee grinder) be sure to dry them thoroughly. If they = crush easily into dry pieces (brittle) when you squeeze them, they're = ready. There are neat little tools for removing seeds and placentas. You'll enjoy using the dehydrator!
