Before last winter I had a serrano last 3 years--and I did nothing to try and save it. It didn't look pretty, but it still gave me lots of peppers. None of the more exotic stuff ever lasted a winter for me. I guessing the serranos are more hardy. Of course last year's rain wiped out the garden. I now have 5 serranos in the yard--hopefully they'll last the winter (but I still have no plans to take any extraordinary measures to save them...). Dan Hirschi unlurking from Van Nuys (in So Cal)
