Ron, I overwintered a few serranos last year and they are now doing quite well. I bought a 6 pack of them at Armstrong's and forgot to plant 2 of them, so they stayed in the 2" tray all winter. I found them underneath a hedge looking like death warmed over in late January. I planted them in 5 gal pots and they are now 3 feet tall and producing nicely. To further attest to the hardiness of these plants, just after transplanting them into the larger pots, my cat discovered that one of the pots made a perfect bed. The plant thrives even after being trampled repeatedly. These plants lived in Hollywood which on average experiences slightly warmer nightly temp's than in the SF valley, but I don't think that will make much of a difference. CH-eers Robert Lusk....
