Well, it's been a slow day work-wise, list-wise, wise-guy-wise, so here's what's been shakin'... Fall is here in KCK, zone 5. Highs in the 70's, lows in the 50's. Had 36 straight hours of rain a few days ago, nice and gentle, no gully-washers. It healed up the cracks in the lawn and for the first time in 2 months my sump-pump kicked in. The Kaloska paprika don't appreciate fall very much, they aren't setting any more fruit, slumping over and ripening the last of the pods. The C. chacoense are not far behind. The keriting type don't seem to care, one in a 10 inch pot is flowering/fruiting to beat the band. The chinense are happy, but the rest of the annuums look like they will follow the paprika in the not-too- distant future. The rocotos have more fruit set recently than they have all year, one is about the size of a golf ball. Thanks to all who sent in recipes/suggestions for my acorn squash a while back. I'll be using them on store bought, since the local squirrel population ruined the part of the crop that made it through the heat of summer. Something will have to be done about them next year. I don't mind losing a portion of my crops, but taking it all is just plain selfish, and not at all nice. Scott... passing the time... KCK
