Alex - great story! But let me comment on the Datils. On my farm, the Datils are far from unremarkable - first green, then yellow, then yellow-orange. They are wrinkly and pointed - and have heat which definitely exceeds my Habs. Not quite Red Savinas, but heading on up the S-scale! This is the second year I've grown Datils - and they're one of my favorite peppers, both in appearance and taste. Nice citrusy flavor, and a loooooooooong mouth feel - R.
