If you have a heat source that can reach your plants (ex. extension cords and a trouble light), place it (them) under your tent(s) with a 60-75 watt bulb. I've even used a hibachi or charcoal pan loaded with greyed charcoal, it usually lasts through the night. If all of this is too impractical, turn on your sprinkler and leave it on all night. Even if the frost causes ice on your plants, leave it on the next day until the ice melts off. You are quite right that if you get by this period of light frost, your season might last until the killer frost arrives. Once again, too late for this season, but fish emulsion fed to plants during September helps plants get by early, light frosts. Tonight in the Connecticut River Valley, 30 degrees predicted.
