Friends from upstate New York wrote me about the Mojave Grille in Westfield, New Jersey. It is on North avenue - I do not have the address or phone number. They had their first taste of Southwestern cuisine while in Arizona for our national specialty in October and after flying back to New York, decided to take an extra week to check out some antique sales in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. They came across this restaurant and raved about it. They said the food was pleasantly spicy but was assured the heat could be turned up if they wished. They loved the corn bread (blue corn) made with peppers, cheese and onions. One had a shredded pork dish which was 'outstanding' and the other had a grilled chicken breast with a salsa made of vegetables which was "absolutely fantastic". They said there were a lot of entrees available which were all a bit pricy, but they felt the quality of the food was worth it. They did not have room for dessert, but said the desserts did not sound anything like the ones they had in Arizona. I don't know how authentic the "southwest" dishes are, but these are people who really like good food and have educated palates. Perhaps if someone on the list is in the area they can check it out. -- Andie Paysinger & the PENDRAGON Basenjis,Teafer,Cheesy,Singer & Player asenji@earthlink.net So. Calif.
