Bethesda is loaded with restaurants....probably among the most densely restaurant-populated areas in the U.S. I agree with some of the recommendations made so far..the Rio Grande is noisy but has good Tex-Mex food. The Thai Place on Cordell Ave is good as is theBangkok Garden on St. Elmo Ave. (However to my mind neither are as good as those "across the river" in Virginia, most notably Dungrats and Rabieng's in Bailey's Crossroads.) The Cottonwood Cafe on Cordell is also good. Further on down Wisconsin Avenue into the District of Columbia, the Cactus Cantina is also good. There are also at least two Austin Grills in the D.C. area that are also worth visiting. A problem with Bethesda is that is it is such a popular spot for dining that parking can be a problem. Natives use this strategy: find a parking place - go to the nearest restaurant. Dale Hitchcock Bethesda, MD
