I went to Mesa Grill a few years ago armed with sky-high expectations. As a vegetarian, I was sorely disappointed. I enjoyed the pumpkin soup, but the word transcendent did not pop unbidden into my head in my attempts to verbalize the experience. I ordered something entitled Southwestern Caesar Salad, and had to send it back. The croutons tasted as if they had been made around the same time as the Model T, and may have been roasted in some of its crankcase oil. And I firmly believe that they saved the remainder of that oil to create the dressing. I didn't taste anything even vaguely reminiscent of the red chile that they warned me was in that salad. The waiter kindly offered me the opportunity to pick another item off the menu as a substitute, and the only other meatless concoctions contained goat cheese....I bloody HATE goat cheese!!!! However, my carnivorous dining companion enjoyed his meal immensely. And I must confess that I was quite enamored of those cute little squiggly breadstick-like thingies that sproinged out of the bar glasses like alien flowers. On that note, have fun. And do let us know how the food was.
