> Has any compared grow lights to halides for growing fruited veggies? > Not as plant starters but for prodcing and ripening fruits/pods > > TIA > Byron I don't know about potted plants but I've grown chiles succesfully in my hydro garden for 4 years with flourescent grow lights. This year I splurged and bought a 400 watt metal halide for the garden. As I understand it the metal halide is supposed to be best for promoting strong growth of leaves and stems The plants are now 1 month old and they are looking much healthier and have more growth than they would have under flourescents. I also bought a high pressure sodium conversion bulb for when they start to flower. The sodium lamp is supposed to promote vigorous flowering and fruiting. I can see no reason why this wouldn't be true for potted plants as well. When I get my hydroponic chili page up (coming soon I hope) I plan to do a picture section on the history of growth of my plants week by week. Tim in Kalispell
