Pods, I'm in Miami for the new year holiday, partying among the Cubans again. This time I can show Linda around the grocery stores - this is where I go to school on the subject of mojo and other sauces. When I get to the right part of the store, I just hunker down on my knees and start reading ingredient lists. I raid the produce section for nasty, ill-tempered sour oranges. My host is non-CH so I have to go easy on the pepper content, but I sure did grab a tray of red habs that reminds me of Jim's fields. We had lunch in a Cuban restaurant, La Carreta on Kendall Drive. Hmm, deep-fried grouper chunks, fresh-squeezed lime wedges, fried boniato, and Ralph's Righteous. We went to the Publix grocery on Flagler and got a fresh leg of pork which is already marinating in mojo, and since my self-control can get a bit creaky sometimes, I have half a red hab minced into that marinade. Sigh. Anyone who loves seafood or produce would LOVE to go grocery shopping in this town. I just wish the zoning allowed open-fire cooking in these apartment buildings. I would be grilling like I did on the beach at Assateague. Alex Silbajoris 72163.1353@compuserve.com with the only salt-crusted Outback in Miami
