We had dinner in our local mexican dive on Monday (I had scallops inferno, wow!) and spotted some stuff I never saw in there grocery store. One was El Yucateo Chipotle Sauce for $1.50. I hadn't heard of it (although have some of their other sauces). Has anyone tried it? I didn't buy anything that night but may head back. They also had a BBQ sauce size bottle of a Chipotle sauce for $2.50 but I can't remember the name. Haven't heard about the hot and spicy things people got for Christmas. I seemed to do pretty well. My wife gave me a beautiful bottle of Excalabur Sauce, my son gave me a chipotle dip, spicy jerky and "The Best Ever Hot and Spicy Cookbook", my sister gave me a gift basket filled with mostly Southwest foods (although it contained two bags of wasabi snack peas) and my mother in law got me a gift basket that had some Hot-house Catsup and a bottle of Brutal Bajan hot sauce. Seems like I did pretty well in that department. Hope everyone else had a great Christmas. My son also volunteered to take some of the seeds I got from Calvin back to Texas (Houston) with him and plant some Chiltepins in his yard. He will then harvest the pods and send them to me. What a great kid! One last thing, Our church youth group is again having their Chili Cook-Off at the end of January. As I placed 2nd last year, I am gunning for First place. Some church members were at the house on Sunday for an open house and I served a turkey version of my second place chili. They raved over it and thought it might be this year's entry (one of the guests is an organizer of the event, another was a competitor from last year). It is not my entry for this year and I plan to wow them this time. I'll post results.
