Hi all, New Years' Day dinner for us was the pozole rojo posted by green from the Epicurious website. Using the last of the Christmas turkey stock and some lean stewing pork (only thing left in the supermarket), this was a really healthy way to mend the head after the night before. The New Mex chiles suggested were perfect for the balance of the dish: we just did as usual and seeded the chiles, only soaked for about 15-20 minutes, then sieved the blended puree to remove the skin parts. But CHers know that. The use of iceberg lettuce and crispy tortilla strips wasn't authentic, perhaps, but it gives a fresh, yuppy, dinner-party feel to the dish. We made half quantities, so we'd have some for dinner tonight as well, but we ate it all up instead. Yum. Thanks, green, for calling my attention to this dish. Also a late thanks to Mike for his Chipotle and Cranberry Compote which all the Americans raved about over Thanksgiving. We here in England had to wait for Christmas to have it with roast turkey but it is now our house cranberry sauce. Thanks so much, Mike. Happy Noo Yar, Virginia
