Malcolm, I've found that the Chinense family (including Habaneros and Fatalli) do not do well indoors. What I've noticed is that varieties that do well in container gardening also overwinter well. These are basically small, bushy plants. I've grown some Brown Congos and Jamaicans to 7' tall. I'm 6'3" and I have pictures of them towering over me. So it stands to reason that they wouldn't naturally do well in say a 3 or 5 gallon container. Right now I have Pueblo, Thai Sun, Barney and Purrira indoors and they are all doing well. None of them are setting flowers but they all continued ripening when I brought them indoors and the leaves are a healthy color so I hope to get a jumpstart when I bring them outdoors in late spring. Other varieties that do well in containers and should overwinter well are Bermuda, Fluorescent, Mushroom and the Hot Lemon. I've found that anyone, anywhere can grow Hot Peppers in containers. I know people in apartments and condos that live in Alaska and the Northwest and New England that get a crop. If you can only grow one I'd recommend the Thai Sun. Eric, In regards to your question on germinating and growing the Fatalli check out the articles on my homepage in 'Published articles'. The Fatalli has germinated over 90% for us.
