Erich asked if anyone knew about fels naptha's effect on chile plants.

Never tried that. Of course, I've been too busy using the fels naptha to get poison ivy oil off my skin. Old family wisdom - if you've been in the poison ivy patch, use fels naptha, not regular soap. Evidently fels naptha soap cuts the oil much better. This has been my experience as well (if the oil is removed in the first couple hours, no breakout).

So, it seems that fn might do something to the plants since it removes oils so  well.
