Heads: I saw this mail a few days back, but haven't been doing much other than lurking lately. However, I did want to mention that in a recent trip to New Mexico (Albuquerque area) I met up with a correspondent and former list member (Charlotte Rowe, whom some of you may remember from about 2 years back), who took me to the Anderson Valley Winery, just outside Albuquerque. One of the products of their winery (and the main reason we went there) is a red-chile Cabernet Sauvignon, and to my pleasure- and, I must admit, surprise- it's a very decent wine. There's a very definite chile aroma in the bouquet, nice and smoky. The flavor is rather fruity, with not a lot of bottom to it, but that works out OK as the chile kicks in not long after the fruit, and provides a nice counterpoint to the sweetness. It's so nice, in fact, that I bought three bottles (and three of their Chardonnay, which was also quite good). So if you're in the neighborhood, you might want to give it a try (don't have the address in front of me, but you can find brochures on New Mexico wineries in any self-respecting Albuquerque hotel or tourist trap). Anybody else tried (or found other wineries that do similar things to) this? Jonathan
