Hello Podheads, I had to wait a bit for this episode, but finally it was on this friday. The program 'Chef for a night'. People are given the opportunity to take over their favorite restaurant for a night and let the customers get a taste of their homemade foods. This particular episode was about two friends who wanted to take over a restaurant in Manchester called 'Sticky Fingers'. It's a restaurant specialized in American food. The guys were Steve Donovan and Eddie Bains. They are chile lovers and love to cook with them. First they had to prepare their dishes and let the chef taste them to get approved for the menu. They made a cheese dip, which was rejected because it separated, a sorbet, which was rejected because it melted, a salad with blackened prawns, which was rejected and the dish that made it was a black bean soup. The thing about the soup was that they added their own home brewed chilebeer. Sounds delicious. So the starter was the soup topped with cheese and coriander. The main course was pork marinated in ginger put on the grill served with cascobelle applesauce and couscous. I don't know the cascobelle chile, so maybe someone has an idea of what it is? But the showstopper was defenitely a chocolate chip cake with jalapenos marinated in bourbon. It looked so delicious. They called it 'Death by Chocolate and Chile' and topped the cake with chocolate dipped chiles. Now, are Steve and Eddie Chilehead members? If they are, I would love to talk to them about chiles and the recipes for the dishes they made and make. Manchester wasn't ready for their heat, but I sure am! If other CH's know of the recipes, PLEASE let me know! Thanks in advance and hope to hear from y'all soon. Miss Dewi Hoe heter, hoe beter!
