I am definitely against it on this list. I agree that personal opinions on
GMOs are a moral issue that should be decided by each individual. I am
also against your overblown scare tactics to push your personal agenda.
Bacillus thuringiensis is a naturally occurring soil organism that has been
registered as a biological insecticide since 1961. Since it is registered
as a biological control, it has undergone extensive testing for toxicity to
humans and animals and has been shown to be extremely safe. I believe that
it is cleared as an insecticide for organically certified crops. I also
believe that it is considered to be so safe that it can be used right up
until harvest, with no withdrawal period. It is one thing to be opposed to
genetic modification and the insertion of the Bt gene into crops by such
modification but to suggest that Bt itself is dangerous to humans is a
different matter. Any such statement is personally biased, contrary to all
available scientific evidence and self serving.
