As I'm not so long around in the world of growing my own peppers, I do know there is always a risk when people moves living things around the world (even thereselfs, carrying all kind of diseases around the globe) There are many examples where we have introduced animals and vegetables in foreign fauna. Some are developed as a pest and some has brought our economic development at the level it is now. A simple thing is the potato's we grow in Holland, they're original from the America, our magnificent flower bulbs we export al over the world... are originally from Turkey. Rabbits in Australia are from England...etc etc. With this in mind we can say there is always a risk introducing a new species but when you do it in a controlled way and when you know which risks there are I don't think its a problem. So my idea of this is, and this is what I'm doing, and I do hope I get some comments on this is; 1 I only grow foreign seeds in a pot, I don't plant it directly in the garden, only after the first season when it stayed healthy. 2.When I don't trust a plant or when I spot a disease, I don't just throw the plant away, but I burn it including the soil. Two simple rules, and if I can add one or two point to make it even more safe even better. Any how, if you think back a few million years the world (the dry part) was one, and all species were every where. But due to the separation and following out of that the change of climate, some species died and some developed there selves to survive.... What's life without risk? Let spread our seeds all over the world, if we don't do it some one else will, or has done it when we speak. Generic manipulation of things in the food chain is something to be scared off this has nothing to do with nature. GM is building nuclear power in food... and I don't mean the heat level here!
