> Oh well, my $.02. And this really is a religious issue. Since why not > just let this little ol' newbie have the last word and drop it now? ;-) Threads end in this group when they end and not when newbies decide they should. I'm amazed that someone who is defending GE would quote the BS that butterflies are being killed by bt. I was at a garden meeting in California last summer when a Swallowtail Butterfly flew by. Someone commented that that was the first butterfly seen because the bt engineered corn grown in California had killed all the butterflies. My response was HUH???? The people who did the Monarch Butterfly study at Cornell University immediately said that it wasn't scientific (were ignored by the media and are now being stalked by knuckle dragger par excellance Linda Reynolds:-) There is a study being done by Guelph University in Canada to find out if bt engineered corn really affects Monarch Butterflies. This study, unlike the Cornell one actually contains scientific things like controls. So the thread ain't going away newbie, and unfortunately any science which comes in to refute the RAFI's of the world will continue to be ignored in the mainstream media. As I've said before, I am not pro or con on genetic engineering, but I absolutely believe that people have a right to know what they are consuming. That includes the cute little flower which will be required on irradiated meat and veggies. Dave Anderson TLCC
