Last fall (year, millennium) I posted about a lazy man's way to compost leaves (shred, bag, water, wait). After 5 months I opened one of the trash bags up and applied it to one of the beds. It was about 50% fairly well composted, but there was quite a bit that hadn't gotten as far as I would have liked, was still kind of dry. I wetted it down and turned it into the soil, then wetted down the soil some more. It should be OK by the time I get to planting. The keys to making this method work seem to be: 1) Use plenty of water. A trash bag full of shredded leaves will hold a surprising amount. 2) Use a good quality trash bag. Mine were OK, but a cheapo-brand won't make it through the process. Scott... KCK
