folks, since this is the CH list ... i've tried to avoid posting to the GM subject matter. but the recent flurry of incorrect assertions & way-off stats has convinced me that this thread won't die easily. so ... if you're pro GM, fine. but at least get your facts straight. here's a page of articles by various ( mostly in favour of GM ) sources regarding "Bacillus thuringiensis". it's from the USDA. http://www.nal.usda.gov/bic/BTTOX/bttoxin.htm "USDA's Economic Research Service (ERS) recently released the first government data on acreage of biotechnology-derived crops. The ERS report - available on the web at www.econ.ag.gov/whatsnew/issues/biotech - indicates that biotech soybean, cotton, and corn acreages have increased dramatically since the introduction of these crops in the mid-1990's. They accounted for 20-44 percent of acreage planted in 1998." the USDA & the other corporate players involved have a vested interest in the continued promotion of GM crops; therefore most articles at these pages reflect that viewpoint. regards peter g ( you are what you eat ? )
