Hey George, I'm here! My backyard is a huge mess! We had a deluge where we got 5 inches of rain in a very short time. This of course was after unrelenting heat, cracking earth, etc. My entire back yard went under water, which included my pond. I had finally got the pond crystal clear again when we were hit by another torrential rain. Jeez! I have to do something about the drainage in my yard. I have an island in the back with azaleas, daphne and trees (dogwoods, tulip poplars). I can see exactly where the water ran when it drained. It went around the island and settled in the very back (my pond!). I checked on the fish, they seem all right, but if the water doesn't show vast signs of improvement, I will have to pull them out and put them in a tank. I lost one of the babies, don't know what killed him. The larger fish seem to be fine, no one at the surface gasping for air. Any suggestions about drainage? I was thinking of digging out a path to the pond and lining it in gravel. Maybe at least the water would be clean if it went in again. Autumn joy sedum is getting ready to bloom as well as my lespedeza bush, joe pye weed, sweet autumn clematis and golden rod. My mums were pretty much flattened by the rain, they are a mess. My monks hood has been knocked over too. Spring was so lovely, but the summer is a bust this year. Even though I have to go back to work next week, I am looking forward to the fall. I know the heat has been unbearable for the southern states this year. Maybe Al Gore will save us all ;-) Hope your tooth is better!
