Vicki O'Keefe asked about nurseries in Kerville. (But it's Kerrville, Vicki) Can recommend the following, but the area codes are questionable. Ask the operator. Area codes around here make no sense and are changed regularly. For example, we have been in this house 8 years; we have gone from area code 512 to 210 and now 830. I'll give you the numbers but no a/c's Natives of Texas is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9-4 or if you phone first, you can make an appointment. They are 11 miles South of the Guadalupe River Bridge in Kerrville and the address is 6520 Medina Highway. Telephone is 896-2169. Nice people there. You can also find some natives at Plant Haus, a good general nursery in Kerrville proper. 528 Jefferson. Mon-Sat 8-6 and Sunday 10-4. Everything I have bought there has done well. The Golden Eagle Nursery on Junction Highway between Kerrville and Ingram used to have splendid cypress compost. You might want to phone first: 367-4144 Don't overlook Country Greenery in Bandera. They are about 4 or 5 miles out FM 1077. Phone first; someone told me they were closed. The number is 460-4970. In Leon Springs there are three attractions: Macaroni Grill, Rudy's B-B-Que place next door, and A-Z Secret Gardens. The three are all in a row just off IH 10W. The nursery has natives, good prices, and they grow a lot of their own stuff -- unlike the nurseries who sell you plants that were raised in Indiana and shipped down in trucks. Telephone is 698-HERB. Much to explore in your new neck of the woods. Enjoy. Pat
