Hi Ginny, I found the key to rooting pineapples is to change the water daily and to clean off the rotting fruit left near the top as you do it. I leave about one inch of fruit on the base of the leaves and set it in an individual chinese rice bowl. It takes about 2 weeks to get enough roots before you can plant it in the soil. I have one twin-headed one at school that really facinates the kids. The pineapples are quite awesome eating right now so try one again.
