Hi Ginny, I found the key to rooting pineapples is to change the water
daily and to clean off the rotting fruit left near the top as you do
it.  I leave about one inch of fruit on the base of the leaves and set
it in an individual chinese rice bowl.  It takes about 2 weeks to get
enough roots before you can plant it in the soil.  I have one
twin-headed one at school that really facinates the kids.

The pineapples are quite awesome eating right now so try one again.
