Placed my order with Pinetree today for the seeds we must absolutely plant this year, mostly common veggies we didn't already have seeds for and a number of everlasting flowers for Miz Anne's art stuff. Got a new catalog from Burpee's yesterday, it's an Heirloom seed catalog. Very impressed although some of the seeds don't strike me as heirloom. They did have the Louisiana Long Green eggplant and the Lemon Drop chiles (peppers to those of us east of the Rockies) that we grew in 1998. Although I didn't get my seed from Burpee's I can recommend those two unreservedly. We had two LL green eggplant plants and got enough fruit to satisfy our hunger for eggplant for the season. Two Lemon Drop pepper plants produced way more peppers than we could ever use fresh so a lot were frozen, pickled, turned into hot sauce, etc. Think I would only plant one bush next time. Anyway, if you didn't get Burpee's Heirloom catalog it would be worth going to their web site and ordering the catalog if just for a reference. Weather is beautiful here, cool, bright sunshine, moderate winds. Expecting some rain by this weekend and it is needed. George, back to shampooing the carpets.
