> My name is Joy, and I live in the Santa Cruz mountains on about 30 acres of > a community owned property.... > .... > I love my ranch! I can well imagine. Remember desperately driving back & forth on the ridge road above - ?Redwood City, I think - because someone with a rather less than perfect command of English had given me bass-ackwards directions to one of the more famous California native plant nurseries.... the old German lady, who I later learned favors European interns; you can probably name her in an instant. And thinking, hey, these beautiful high dry hills look a lot like a few parts of northeast/northcentral Kansas I sometimes have occasion to drive through in summer on the way to the closest thing we've got around here to a free beach. Also, on finally discovering the correct road and turning right and right and right again back down into the not-exactly-northern-California redwoods, (near closing time didn't help but can hardly be blamed for all) thinking that I wouldn't come down that road again even to kill myself, because it was too damn depressing. Not, I imagine, that *real* redwoods would affect me much differently. > I love Santa Cruz! > Yeah, if it wasn't for all the damn vampires.... bk--- Supposes there are better candidates for the "Santa Carla" of the movie, but at the time did think he recognized bits and pieces of the pier, etc.
