I think I had better expand slightly. Right after first frost. I bury a 2 in layer of compost about 4 in deep Cover with about 2 in of soil, spread a little lime and finish covering. It has time to rot down quite well before spring. A few things like broc and cauli stems I might have to rebury after spring tilling. I am borderline Zone 4a and 5b Byron
