It's spelled "allelopathy" and is defined in one of my botany books as "the
excretion of chemicals by plants of some species that are toxic to plants
of other species."  If you have internet access, you might browse.  I just
tried and had 547 hits on the list.  Sorry, I don't have Kay's posts on the
subject.
