Hi, PennyN, we're happy that you did not get flooded out from Floyd. Driving around locally yesterday we found all sorts of new parkway drainage projects underway, since this past hurricane had people moving about in zodiaks (rubber boats with portable motors). At least it does keep the money moving...... You answered my primary question, which was did my climate at coastal New York City and my hurricane attacks, match yours, in coastal Nova Scotia. I guess it certainly does.... Not only North Carolina but also New Jersey has suffered dramatically from the excess in water. We're in N.J. weekly, and they are now ready to begin flood control -- TEN years after they were beaten down by a hurricane, and should have done something..! What short sightedness... It's quite like my daughter on the Mississippi at St.Louis. The day before that absolutely awful flooding of a few years back, she bought a tiny heirloom house right on the river's edge. Need I say more...? I don't see where they are doing anything at all to prevent another territory-wide flooding like that one. It would be difficult, but must be feasible.
